Why is it people only ever pull the “realism” card for when a plot development is negative? I don’t want happy endings in everything, or for there to be no drama at all or for everything to be happy coffee shop AUs, but at a certain point it becomes a thought-terminating fallacy, feels like pure cope to make something sound more intellectual than it is, and insidiously insinuates that tragedy is inherently more realistic than anything lighter. It’s so frustrating.
